Hey ladies and gents...it's ya girl Untouched Jewel in the buildin!
Well, I'm sure alot of you had read my last post An Organized Mess, where I was feeling a bit, well...melancholy, a bit unsure...whatever you wanna call it. Since that post, I have an update. Yes y'all...I HAVE AN UPDATE!
Since that post I had to do something about what and how I was feeling about what's happened in my life that I feel had lapsed in my life. I reapplied back to school! *cheers and applause* I filed for financial aid and school, and hope to find out what my school has to say about me getting back in. I won't lie, I was having some trouble with school where my GPA had dropped a bit (due to some personal experiences I was dealing with at the time, as well as not being able to pass a class that had nothing to do with personal issues). One thing is for certain I had to pray to God and seek Him out to help me get back to what I value most (next to my children)--EDUCATION.
If there is anything that I would recommend to the masses is education. I know that sounds conservative and lame at the same time, but times are changing and it requires having some sort of educational background involved in whatever job or career you do. Take a look around you...countries like Japan and China are running damn near everything in exponential leaps and bounds (not trying to say that in a red-neck racist type of way). They push education like vegetables into a child's mouth, they do not play that ish at all! Where do we (the US) fail? Is it because the curriculum is outdated and sucks ass? Are the children not being academically challenged? Is it just that there are teachers who would sit in the classroom and collect a check for every child that shows up to school?! SIDE NOTE: The last question was in no way to demean those in the teaching profession whom ARE doing their job and doing it effectively and well helping someone's bad ass misguided and unchallenged child. Okay, now that I got that formality out of the way...
For African-Americans: y'all know what time it is! STOP BULLSH**TIN' AND GET IT TOGETHER! There is no reason anyone Black should be walking around like a chicken with ya head cut off, cause you have no education. African-American men: I know y'all's asses see the statistics that's being dropped about how many of y'all goin to college compared to your female counterparts? *nods head* Sure ya do! Okay, so what's the problem?! Afraid ya boys gonna clown you (even though they dumber than a box of rocks)? Feel you gonna lose ya street cred for goin to college? Might get a case of Bougie Syndrome and move out the hood? C'mon son!
I'm gonna tell y'all like I tell my soon-to-be 12 year old son: SOCIETY IS SET UP TO SEE YOU FAIL THAN SUCCEED! Look at the number of Black and Hispanic men in our prisons nationwide...what the hell does that tell you? Look at our high school drop out rate! See, people think that Bill Cosby is goin H.A.M. on the African-American race, but what he's sayin ain't no where near wrong at all. Look at the majority of the Cosby Kids: Rudy graduated from Spelman, Saundra graduated from UCLA, Theo has produced and directed more shows than most people realize (Cosby Show, Malcolm & Eddie, Fresh Prince of Bel Air--to name a few), and Raven-Symone' had the highest rated Disney show "That's So Raven". You know how they did that? Bill Cosby saw something in them and pushed them to be of greatness, as well as their parents I'm sure.
I've always heard the saying "Knowledge Is Power". And I've always heard the bible scripture "My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). And you know what the word is for the definition of 'lack of knowledge'? IGNORANCE. The more we become ignorant, the better society feels, because they can pull the okey-doke on our asses and could give a rat's ass about it.
So instead of being ignorant, let's gain some knowledge...because IT IS POWER!
Until Next Post,
Peace & Blessings,
Untouched Jewel
