To the Ill-informed and Misguided

Hello all who are reading this. Last night I was reading a blog of President Anthony Taurus (under United States of Anthony), and it was about an article entitled "Screw the Pitiful Poor white trash south", where white people are in fear that since Barack Obama is our president-elect, Black people are going to come off as aggressive and pretty much irate.

I was a bit disturbed by the article to see that there are ignorant people who will not let go of the racist and oppressive attitudes their ancestors carried centuries ago. But what also disturbs me even more is that there was a blogger (I guess) whom went under the name of "Anonymous" (obviously they were too coward enough to say whom they were). This person left comments under President Anthony Taurus' comments section stating that Black people needed to move and get over the past. He even went on to state some crap about Prop 8 being discriminatory against people like racism, etc. And that's when I had to put my two cents in.

Can you believe that since I said what I had to say, this fool had the nerve to belittle me in all I had to say?! I wasn't just saying things off the top of the dome to be saying them. Everything I mentioned was based on fact about whites have done to Blacks for centuries, and that whites can't face the music of what their ancestors have done to them. I also said to "Anonymous" that he couldn't see racism for what it is, because he falls into an institutionalized system that works in his favor called PRIVILEGE. I took this sociology class a few years back, and one of my required readings is a book entitled "Privilege, Power and Difference" by Allan G. Johnson (whom is a white man). And in this book, he explains how privilege is established, how it affects people of other races, and what can be done to eradicate the privileged system.

Here is an excerpt from the book that explains part of the continuation of slavery in the south:

"With the emancipation of the slaves following the Civil War, however, lower-class whites could no longer point to their freedom as a mark of superiority. Their response to this loss was a period of enormous violence and intimidation directed against blacks, much of which was perpetuated by the newly formed Ku Klux Klan with no serious opposition from government or the larger white population". (Power, Privilege and Difference, pgs. 49-50)

Anyway, this "Anonymous" character had the nerve and audacity to say that I was ill-informed and ignorant about everything I had to say. Okay, so I guess he's saying that Rodney King getting his ass kicked by LAPD was just a figment of my imagination? Amadou Diallo getting shot 41 times by NYPD was a lie?

I had to state my case that Prop 8 will never equal the injustice and discrimination that Blacks during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, Jim Crow era or Civil Rights Movement had to endure. Prop 8 doesn't even equal the injustice the Jews faced in Germany by the hands of Adolf Hitler.

So if there are any white readers out there who come across this blog, here me out: I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THIS "BLACKS NEED TO GET OVER SLAVERY AND RACISM, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE." SLAVERY IS ALIVE AND STILL VERY MUCH A PART OF THE REASON WHY BLACKS ARE THE WAY THEY ARE. WE HAVE DEALT WITH ALMOST 400 YEARS OF OPPRESSION, TORTURE, RAPE, BEING STRIPPED OF OUR IDENTITY AS A PEOPLE, HAVING OUR FAMILIES RIPPED APART IN FRONT OF OUR VERY EYES, BEATEN, HOSED DOWN WITH WATER, ATTACKED BY DOGS, LYNCHED. YOU NAME IT, IT'S HAPPENED. But it hasn't stopped there. See, there's a racism that still exists that white people don't want to acknowlege: MENTAL RACISM. The mentality is still implanted in the minds of people whose ancestors have planted that seed centuries ago. When is it time to end the madness? When an entire race has to die and suffer at the hands of your people? When is enough really gonna be enough? Black people have long been fed up. Didn't the L.A. riots teach you anything?!

Now this is just my opinion to white people, but you need to understand and realize that you are in that position of privilege and you continue to benefit from it everyday. Prime example: A young white male who goes out and commits a crime will get a slap on the wrist and community service (maybe 6 mos. in jail at the most). Let a young Black male do the same crime and he gets life in prison. Where's the justice in that? White people have every institution in this country handed to them on a silver platter (regardless of class), but Black people couldn't catch a break if their own lives depended on it. It's sad that you walk around with rose-tinted sunglasses on and not see what's going on in the real world. RACISM EXISTS. Do something about it. Don't feel guilty and try to compensate for your guilt, end it.

It's time that we all get it together, because if we continue to teach our children ignorance or dumbing down one's integrity and intelligence to cater to the ignorance of another race, history is doomed to repeat itself all over again.
