And so a new era begins...

Hello ladies and gents. I know many of you have read a trillion and one inauguration blogs all day, but I'm not trying to stear that route by recapping the days' events. I just want to share with you a little something on my mind about this historic and blissful day.

Now... when you see these images, what comes to mind?

I know for me, seeing our new President and First Lady walk down the steps of the Lincoln Memorial at the We Are One concert, it made me think of The Emancipation Proclamation to free the slaves, and now generations later we have as Dr. Maya Angelou would say: "the dream and the hope of the slave". Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we do have that dream. Not just the dream of Black people, but also European, Latino, Asian, Pacific Islander, etc. He's America's dream, and we the people made that dream possible when we went out to vote on November 4, 2008. This country was ready for change, and felt that if it took a man of half African, half European descent to do it, then so be it.

Honestly, I truly applaud this man. He's not only a father, but he's a husband, and a stand-up guy that I feel most Black men could find as the catalyst and inspiration to change and be better. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not crowning this man a savior or anything to that effect, but he is brave enough to stand up and take his place as the leader of the free world, and it gets no harder than that. But because of the fact that he's the one who has the determination and drive to break the racial barrier (aka the proverbial glass ceiling) by becoming our first black president.

I just hope this time in history means as much to you as it does to me. I can tell my grandchildren one day that Barack Obama became our first black president of this country. And if there were ever a time in life where I was proud of my country, and the people who made the right choice to pick the right person for the right position at the right time, this is it.
THANK YOU AMERICA FOR CHOOSING OUR NEW PRESIDENT!
