The Controversy Surrounding Chris Dorner & the Los Angeles Police Department

Greetings ladies and gents, it's ya girl Untouched Jewel in the buildin! Tonight I wanna touch on something that clearly has me bothered & has helped shed some light to me of recent events. I'm not sure if this has even made national headlines, but it's all the buzz here in Los Angeles, California. So for those of you that don't know...I'm gonna help ya out and inform you of what's going on in good ole crazy Southern Cali. Ready? Here we go......

This gentleman you see pictured above goes by the name of Christopher Jordan Dorner. He is a former LAPD officer. Back in 2009, Dorner was wrongfully terminated from his position as an officer of the infamous Los Angeles Police Department (you know, the mothafuckas that beat the pure and utter shit out of Rodney King? Yeah, them). The reason for his termination from the department was due to him being a whistleblower for a situation for which his former partner (whom I may add is now a sergeant & female) assaulted a "suspect" while handcuffed. His former partner kicked the "suspect" in the chest twice and once in the face. Oh, and this doesn't even include the fact that the "suspect" has the mental disorders of Schizophrenia and Dimentia. *gasps*Dorner reported this information to his superiors as well as filed the incident report of everything that took place. He was transferred from one precinct to another, then not too long after there was an "investigation" done by a Board of Rights (BOR) panel, he was then terminated.

When Dorner went before this BOR panel of his peers in the force, he stated in his manifesto that was written early this past week that he discovered some of the panel members had some sort of personal ties with his former partner (via working together as partners on the force, supervisors, etc.). When he made an appeal to have this panel be changed to other officers within the department, the request was denied more than once. He also stated that his former partner has had a history of excessive use of force on suspected criminals throughout her career that the LAPD is quite aware of, because the department's own risk management division has had to warn her on several occasions about her use of force. She even has a case history of domestic violence with a boyfriend of hers (also an LAPD officer). But what I don't seem to understand is how the department wants to dismiss this man from law enforcement by stating that he made a "false report" against his former partner? Really? Last time I checked, any officer who falsifies any type of police documentation regarding a case or incident can and will be locked up for falsifying documentation, which is considered perjury--punishable by LAW. So if the police claim that Dorner made a false report, why wasn't he locked up for it back when it all happened?! Things that make you go HMMMMMMM........

Now, almost two weekends ago Christopher Dorner had killed two innocent people in an Irvine, California neighborhood. Tragic, I know. But what made the killing all the more interesting was the fact that the two innocent people he killed, one of them was the daughter of the man who was a BOR panelist who helped to get Dorner fired from the LAPD. See where the plot thickens? Since that killing, he also killed a Riverside Police officer as well. From that point on, he has evaded being caught & captured by the LAPD. The department as of today has put out a 1 million dollar reward out for his capture. Of course quite naturally everybody and their mother got their eyes peeled in order to get that almighty dollar. SMH.

Now here's where the LAPD fucked up.....Christopher Dorner served in the United States military (the Navy to be exact) & has received medals to boot which do include a medal as a marksman. Strike 1. So to add to the fact that he served with his police force after serving a tour or two in Iraq, he already knows the ins and outs of the police force like the back of his hand. Strike 2. Since the LAPD fired this man wrongfully & won't give him the chance to clear his good name, he's already got a vendetta out for particular people on the force who threw him under the bus, but their family members as well? STRIKE 3. What I find somewhat hilarious is the fact that Christopher Dorner is making a complete and utter mockery out this whole institution and shedding light on all the corruption, racism and brutality they've bestowed upon citizens of the city of Los Angeles (whether the people on the wrong end of the law were innocent or guilty) for decades. A couple of examples of this reign of terror from the police were none other than Rodney King (which sparked the uprising of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots) and the Late Notorious B.I.G. (for whom his family won a civil lawsuit against the department for which its officers had a hand in his death in front of the Petersen Auto Museum March 9, 1997). As the late Malcolm X had stated after the death of President John F. Kennedy, "the chickens have come home to roost".

It's interesting how the moment it is found that one of their own started committing the triple homicide of innocent people connected to those that caused the termination now want to paint him as someone crazy, armed and dangerous. And what's even more twisted is how the news media is cosigning on the police department's bullshit & calling it a relevant story. I for one don't buy the bullshit. It's like a friend of mine once told me this one quote that I didn't understand at first but now rings more truer than ever: "there's no news in the truth, and there's no truth in the news". I laid in my bed at around 4 am this morning and read the full manifesto from Christopher Dorner himself. I must let y'all know it is quite lengthy (source). Once I was able to read this from beginning to end, it put everything into perspective for me about this man. He's not going out killing random people like the media wants to paint the sordid picture. He in his mind wanted to right some wrongs. I must say that even though I don't condone how he went about trying to clear his name, but I however don't blame him for being angry at the people who caused him to lose his livelihood. What was done to him should never be done to anyone who's on the side of right. What he did in the beginning was on the side of right.....telling the truth. Unfortunately when you have a police force known for being corrupt and justifying having a badge and gun to beat someone's ass, it gets you caught up in a shit storm that puts you way in over your head.

If Christopher Dorner were able to read this blog post right now, I would tell him that I applaud him for standing up to a system that has done nothing but kill innocent lives, destroy the spirits of citizens in the city of Los Angeles, and cause an utter distrust for law enforcement. It is sad and unfortunate that innocent lives of this chaos have caused "casualties of war", which didn't have to be. I would hate to see a man who had sworn to "protect and to serve" as he did so rightfully, be brutalized. But sadly, I would hate to see a Black man die at the hands of a police department whose sole purpose is to have him dead because he took off the veil of a system riddled with the sins of its past, present and probable future. Chris, the killing could have been avoided. But somewhere along the line you felt you had to do what was "By any means necessary", then it is what it is. Clearing your name won't bring back the dead. One thing I do know is your method of setting the record straight is definitely gonna change the face of how law enforcement deals with not only the citizens they are sworn to protect, but also the function of the code they protect each other by as well. If by any chance that you are captured, you make sure you take this case to federal level & demand the right to have your voice heard and your name cleared from lies, deception and scandal that the police department have functioned under since your departure from the force. Exhaust every avenue possible to show that your termination was behind a bureaucracy built on bullshit to cover their own asses. Then once you have done that, sue the shit outta the LAPD, and appeal against whatever sentence is handed to you (granted that the LAPD don't kill you execution style). Now if you are still at large, all I gotta say is RUN JIGGA RUN!

Until Next Post,

Untouched Jewel
